What We Do
ACSGRE adopts and promotes the concept of human security as a central pillar of our programs and intervention areas and advances the understanding and application of people-centered, multi-sectoral, comprehensive, context-specific, and prevention-oriented solutions to critical and pervasive human insecurities, building on the human security approach.
ACSGRE‘s activities have three areas of focus which are security, governance and consultancies.
Research is an integral part of much of ACSGRE’s work and cuts across its areas of focus.
Security
ACSGRE’s vision for sustainable peace and security in Africa means that peace initiatives and processes constitute a key element of its programmatic activities and the organisation.
Governance
ACSGRE’s involvement in programmatic activities geared towards the promotion of good governance stems from a critical need.
Research
Research is an integral part of ACSGRE’s mandate that cuts across most of the organization’s programs.
Consultancy
ACSGRE undertakes consultancies to strengthen organisations through trainings, capacity building, evaluations and more.
Our Capacity
ACSGRE conducts much of its work through collaborative approaches. Its team of experts consists of diverse professionals, researchers, and practitioners. The team draws its strength from civil society organizations, academia, and research institutions in the region and beyond, all bringing together a unique blend of qualifications, experiences, and capacities.
Some of the ACSGRE staff previously held senior positions in government and private sectors and are thus well-versed with the systems and structures that determine the regional socio-economic and political dynamics. Some have strengthened their skills by merging theory and practice in governance, peacebuilding, and conflict prevention from academia to operating within the wider civil society framework.
